We're in the final month of a crazy crazy 2020. A good rest is due... BUT not before we sort out our Xmas and New Year menus for the anticipated crowd! No one's gonna be flying away for a white Christmas.
Menu reinvention is key, among many other factors, to maintaining sales. Simply because humans are biologically wired to be attracted to novelty. So, if you're looking for something that's totally new to Singapore, we got you sorted.
Bodriggy Brewing Co is an unconventional Melbourne-based craft brewery / brewpub in the neighbourhood of Abbotsford. First came on our radar when one of our beertenders who returned home from a trip to Oz raved like a nutter for days about Bodriggy.
Beers (both cans and kegs) will be released in a few days' time. Get a head start, be the first and snatch them up now! Deliveries for Bodriggy will start on 2 Dec 2020.
Promo of the Month
Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer. Steeped in ginger, combined with quality ingredients and matured for 6 weeks to create a deliciously distinctive flavour. One of the most versatile beverage we have come across. On it’s own, the spiciness is terrific and refreshing. With food, it works wonderfully with red meat that’s BBQ, grilled, smoked, pan-fried, and with so many different local dishes it’s hard to go wrong with Crabbie’s. And if cocktail is your game, this set of recipes will come in handy.
Hit us up for more details on this trade promos. While stocks last.
Kegs on steroids
Rainy days may mean soggy shoes and restaurant cancellations but the cold weather also presents an opportunity for recommending fuller-bodied and robust beers that would otherwise have been a tad heavy for our humid weather. From the Land of Vikings, fantastic stouts from Amager and TO-OL have just landed. Personally, we've never had a mediocre stout from Amager & TO-OL so we say, grab them fast! Download catalogue.
TO-OL: From Gypsy to City
After being a gypsy brewer for decade, To Øl has its own home. More aptly, a village. To Øl city comprises 12 massive buildings (taking up ¼ of the neighbourhood) with people producing beers, spirits, ciders, kombuchas and even fermenting vinegars and potatoes.
As a gypsy brewer, there is a certain constraint as beers are managed by an independent brewer. Having their own brewery currently provides them with massive flexibility to take on the wildest projects that’s limited only by their own imagination.
As a distributor, we have heard for years, from both industry folks as well as consumers how much they love the brews from TO-OL. They may not be particularly “noisy” in their marketing but their beers surely speak for themselves. Check out our craft beer catalogue for the latest TO-OL range.
To find out more about TO-OL city, watch this video.
SALT Lands in Singapore
In 1 week's time, the hoppy brews from British craft brewery, SALT, debuts in Singapore. The folks behind the beers comprise Colin Stronge and Chris Wigg who have 30 years shared experience between them from breweries such as Northern Monk, Marble (we had our first taste of British craft beers here 15 years ago), Buxton and Black Isle. When you let them loose on a state of the art brewhouse, the result will be some pretty exceptional beer. We're kicking off with a small batch. Check out Salt’s gems here
Upcoming Event: Trappist Ale Night
In the world of beers, there’s craft. And within this craft, there’s Trappist. Legendary not simply because of its rarity or history but also the dedication Trappist monks have devoted to making some of these outrageously good beers. Trappist beer distributor The Drinking Partners will be hosting Trappist Ale Night once again (the first session was held 8 years ago), on Good Friday weekend - Sat 11 April 2020 at Mikkeller Bar. This time, 12 different Trappist beers from 6 Trappist monasteries will make the flight.
Very limited seats available. Shoot us a DM on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/thedrinkingpartners) to reserve your slot. First come, first serve.
$46 per pax. Pre-payment needed to secure seats.
Flight X: Mikkeller Guided Tasting
12 March 2020 will be a special day for Mikkeller fans. The Drinking Partners will be collaborating with Mikkeller Bar Singapore to host a 10-beer-flight Mikkeller beer tasting session.
Calling all zythophiles and craft beer noobs! Join us for a night of insanity on Thurs 12 March as we smash through 10 different Mikkeller beers, across 10 different beer styles. From soba-inspired beers to spontaneously-fermented ales, it’s gonna be a heady ride! If you’re a newish to craft beers, we will hold your hands (ok, maybe your bottle) and take you through each tasting note. And if you’re a zythophile, this flight is gonna set you on fire!

Gluten-Free Diet – Fad or Fact?
The gluten-free movement is rising rapidly. Ever wondered if it’s just a culinary fad or a legitimate movement?
To start off, what exactly is gluten?
Gluten is a type of protein found in wheat, barley and rye. They are often present in our daily diet including bread, Milo, ketchup and beer. While most of us can consume gluten with no issue, there are however, some individuals who suffer complications – Coeliac Disease.
The heart of the matter, is the matter of the gut.
Our immune system protects the body from infections and illnesses by getting rid of germs and other invaders that do not belong.
In coeliac patients, the immune system mistakes gluten as a foreign invader and attacks the gut. Very often, the intestines of these individuals are inflamed and damaged.
Treatment to prevent Coeliac Disease?
Currently, there is no treatment. The only way to control it is a strict, 100% gluten-free diet.
If gone undiagnosed for many years, symptoms may progress to include:
- Malnutrition
- Infertility and miscarriage
- Anaemia
- Osteoporosis
- Intestinal lymphoma and small bowel cancer
- Neurological problems such as seizures
Fortunately, many eateries and food manufacturers are starting to offer special recipes for these individuals so that they can be included in social gatherings, too.
So… Gluten-Free beers?
Yes, even breweries are looking into new recipes and technology so that gluten-intolerant friends can join in the celebratory drinks.
One of such breweries is Mongozo – known for its special, innovative technique that removes gluten at 2 stages of the brewing process. This method is used on 2 specific beers: Mongozo’s Premium Pilsner and Buckwheat White.
Gluten-abstainers can be at ease as these 2 beers are gluten-free certified by the Association of European Coeliac Societies (AOECS).
Here are more gluten-free options in our portfolio. Feel free to reach out to us at info@thedrinkingpartners.com should you wish to create an exciting, gluten-friendly beer menu for your F&B outlet!
Fact and fad.
While the gluten-free diet may seem like a fad, it should not discount the fact that there are people facing very real and serious health conditions.
So before any of us ‘gluten-shame’ someone, remember that it may be a matter of life and death.

No Sweat, No Beer!
Join the folks of The Great Beer Experiment for a work-out! We reckon that the best time for a beer is when you are sweaty, exhausted and real thirsty. At least our experience of shifting cartons of beers tells us so. So let's get sweaty together by taking a trek through the jungle. And after a good sweat, we'll proceed for couple of beers at the The Great Beer Experiment down the road. There'll be some amazing draught beers tapping on that day.
PS: This is an easy 1-hour trek. No running after rabbits or jumping over bushes required- unless Mikkel Borg Bjergsø reckons it's a glorious day for a sprint!
Meeting Point: End of Rifle Range Road (public car park outside ST Kinetics). If taking public transport, wait for the Beer Truck to pick you up at 9.50am from the junction of Dunearn Road and Rifle Range Road.
Attire: Sporty. Do bring extra change of clothes, towel and water.
This is a free event and open to everyone. In the event of rain, this sweaty event will be cancelled. But we will still be heading to The Great Beer Experiment for beers at 12pm.
SMS the sweaty folks at 93851752 before 9am on that morning, if you are waiting for Beer Truck pick-up.
