The fantastic beers of Brewery DeMolen, recognised as one of the Top 10 Best Brewers in the world, has finally arrived in Singapore. To celebrate the occassion and also to showcase the widely varying styles from this artisanal and award-winning brewery, The Drinking Partners paired up with our partner, Chef Marc, to host a DeMolen Beer and Food Pairing Dinner. Based on his own interpretations of the brews, Chef Marc created 5 dishes specially for the dinner.

Dinner was a full-house, and which ran late into the night as folks stayed on to chat after the wonderful dinner.

Trappist Ale Night

Ever dreamt of tasting all the Trappist beers in one night?

There are only 7 Trappist monasteries in the world, and in total, produces more than 20 different brews. Most of these beers are produced in limited quantities, and are perennial favourites of beer lovers.

To all beer lovers who has had a Trappist beer, we know that a Trappist beer is not a marketing gimmick. It is truly and honestly a great beer.

Although many of the brews are dark ales, there is a characteristic style belonging to each brewery. In blindfold tasting session, would you be able to identify which brew hails from which?

The Drinking Partners is organising a Trappist Ale Night for beer lovers to enjoy the selection of 18 Trappist ales, over 2 nights on 13th and 14th July, at an inspirational art gallery in Marina Bay Sands.

Date: 13 & 14th July 2012

Time: 7.30pm onwards

Fee: $65 per pax (for both sessions)

Seats are limited to only 60, on a 1st come 1st serve basis.

All beers will be served in 100ml servings. No food will be provided so please line your stomach with something in preparation for the big night of big beers ahead.

Bring extra cash because there will be a case of very special beer available for sale on the first night too.

First large scale Beer-Food Pairing Event in Singapore!

Craft beers are gaining a following in Singapore, with beer aficionados actively seeking out craft beer distributors and restaurants. Many craft beers, especially Belgium beers, are brewed with herbs, spices or fruit, or have been matured in oak casks, resulting in a beverage that is full of flavour and aroma. Fact is, beers are very food-friendly and the marriage of different styles of beers with different dishes can lend a very satisfying dimension to the whole culinary experience.

An increasing number of F&B establishments here recognise the versatility and appeal of craft beers and have been quick to introduce beer and food pairing to their diners.

Beer Festival 2011

Beerfest Asia returns for the third time in 2011 from 16 to 19 June!

Appealing to both exhibitors and the many beer lovers in Singapore and around the region, visitors get to enjoy over 250 different beers from all over the world at affordable prices from as low as SGD 3 under three marquees. 30,000 people are expected at Beerfest Asia 2011.

For the trade industry, besides having the opportunity to engage and exchange dialogue with other industry colleagues and promote their products, Beerfest Asia 2011 continues with the tradition of the Asia Beer Awards in its sophomore year and for the very first time, the Asia Brewers’ Conference will be held on the trade day (16 June 2011) of Beerfest Asia 2011.

Further complementing the experience are the outdoor bazaar with a delectable range of food and games. Jam-packed with classic festival activities, there is something for everyone at Beerfest Asia.

Lindemans Peach at Mens Fashion Week!

Singapore is always looking to bring attention to itself and attract new visitors. The latest attraction was Men's Fashion Week Singapore 2011, which ran last week at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center.

The inaugural event featured the works of well known designers like Canali and Emmanuel, but much attention was directed towards the Asian designers who used MFW as a platform to debut their A/W 2011 fashion lines.

Along with talented designers from all over Asia, it was great to see local Singaporean designers like Reckless Ericka, Elohim by Sabrina Goh, and ATZU show their collections.

Beer and Mooncake Pairing

TDP hosts beer events regularly. During these occasions, we meet folks who are beer newbies (noobs!) as well as many who are already beer connoisseurs in their own right.

A key purpose of these events is to encourage people to try new beers rather than our staple lager style beers. Also, to appreciate the history, brewing process and savour the different character of each label. Hence, it is particularly heartening when folks continue to explore new beers after the events. They keep us in the loop and share with us their experiences.

It is great knowing that we touched people’s beer lives in our own way.

Steven Ng, one of our “MBA” (Masters of Beer Appreciation) graduates, has taken beer appreciation to new heights with his Beer and Mooncakes Pairing during the Mid-Autumn Festival. We heard he has previously organised other beer/food get-togethers with his kakis, but in our opinion, this mooncake pairing is truly adventurous. Hope you guys enjoyed the dinner, Steven and co.!
